Luke Mourinet (Real name), also known as Luke Mornay, Ruff & Jam, Fortun8 Fellaz, Shades of Mercy.
Luke began his musical career as a DJ in the Paris region before moving to London to immerse himself in music production. In London, he became a talent scout for Pete Waterman, who was keen to develop French artists with the distinctive sound of his successful label (PWL). This led to Luke being recruited as a songwriter and sound engineer for Pete Waterman Entertainment.
His collaboration with Jean-Marie Moens to create “Ruff & Jam” paid off when the duo produced the “Love at First Sight US MIX” for Kylie Minogue, which reached #1 on the Billboard charts and earned a Grammy Award nomination, catapulting them onto the international stage.
This success was followed by a series of high-profile collaborations with artists such as Craig Armstrong, Robbie Williams, Amy Winehouse, Frou Frou, The Killers, Marianne Faithfull, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and Axelle Red, to name just a few.
In his spare time, Luke experimented with a project influenced by Chicago house under the name Fortun8 Fellaz, which caught the attention of Fatboy Slim and led to a signing with Southern Fried Records.
After taking a break from music, Sony Music invited him back to the studio to collaborate on the single for the finalists of ‘Idool‘ for the Belgian market. The single “More to Me” made a sensational debut at number one, staying there for five consecutive weeks and earning a gold record.
He then adopted the pseudonym “Luke Mornay” in homage to his mother’s stage name (Luce Mornay).
Luke then produced a show dedicated to the Native American cause as a musical director and executive producer in partnership with Nostalgie Belgique. He also co-wrote an album for the solo career of Geike, the singer from the Belgian group Hooverphonic, and a song for Lââm.
In 2018, in collaboration with his manager Tom Parker, Luke gradually returned to the studio, producing remixes for Debbie Gibson, Kim Wilde, Ace of Base, and Shakespears Sister. He also worked as a mixer for Bananarama, Fine Young Cannibals, and Shakespears Sister, among others. His new mix of “Cruel Summer” was featured in the HBO series Lovecraft Country.
In 2021, he released his solo album, co-writing tracks with Kevin Godley of 10CC, James Atkin of EMF, top model Roxy Horner, Lucy Pullin (Robbie Williams‘ management director), and many others.
Contacted by the French band Hey Life, Luke was impressed by their immense talent and remixed “L’Horloge,” much to the delight of the band and their fans.
In 2022, he signed a distribution deal with the American company Presonus and Fender for his sound library label Kulture Sounds. His first product, “Toolbox,” dedicated to the Studio One production software, was an immediate success.
In 2023, while quietly preparing for his official return in 2024, Luke collaborated with Peter “Jonas” Berggren, composer and founder of Ace of Base, on a remix of “Déjà Vu,” which resulted in a radio version acclaimed by the band and fans. He also remixed two other major Ace of Base tracks, including “Don’t Turn Around,” in a nod to his PWL years, which was praised by Classic Pop Magazine for its remarkable transformation.
In spring 2023, things accelerated with his remix of Dannii Minogue‘s “For the Record,” delighting her fans and earning praise from Retropop magazine. Luke joined the exclusive group of remixers who have remixed both Minogue sisters. His remix was included in Dannii’s album, which made a sensational entry into the Australian and UK charts (#1). Dannii used Luke’s version for her signing session and fan meet-and-greet in Melbourne.
In summer 2023, Luke thrilled Kylie Minogue fans with his bootlegs of “Padam Padam” and “Tension,” garnering over 100k views on his channel and DJ requests from around the world.
In autumn 2023, London Records enlisted Luke as a sound engineer for Siobhan Donaghy, founder of the Sugababes, to mix “Pop Illusion,” an unreleased track for the reissue of her album “Revolution in Me,” as well as a remix to close the album.
As of April 4th, 2024, Luke joined the jury of Dawn Parry‘s show ‘Jukebox Judgment’ on NEWDAWN.FM. This role allows him to collaborate with top producers and support emerging talents. Luke is honored to work alongside renowned producers like Steve Lillywhite (U2…), Barry Upton (Brotherhood of Man), and other industry experts.
Many projects in which he is involved are set to be released in 2024, marking the beginning of a new chapter.

Here, unveiling ‘Twenty Five Ten‘, Mornay unveils an tapestry every bit as complex – but often as beautiful – as the lives an enforced lockdown has shown us. Recorded with a series of collaborators, Mornay’s album provides an emotional companion to the world pivoting into dense uncertainty.
Mornay says it all in one track, but luckily for the listener, there are seventeen others to accompany it!

“Shake Your Love (Luke Mornay Remix).”
I love that it sounds like a real ’80s drum machine, the one I had with the circular pads that you hit with an actual stick!
And, I can hear the club kids screaming from here when the intro breaks down to just sustained chords and the track slowly builds to a frenzy. The #DebHeads are loving this, and so am I!

…”Smile like you mean it” has been left in the very capable hands of Ruff & Jam (Kylie, Polyphonic Spree, Scissor Sisters) who stay true to the original but add their trademark commercial twist, the infectious bass line alone is testament to that. …

Smile Like You Mean It / Mr Brightside
The Killers’ meteoric rise continues as the ‘Smile Like You Mean It (Ruff & Jam Remix) hits next week’s Buzz Chart at No.1. Catch it on Pete Tong’s ‘Essential Selection’ on Radio 1 this friday (6th May) .
Shake Your Love (Luke Mornay Mix) Closing out my dream list album with the two new remixes in the box set. Luke Mornay takes on 1987 smash Shake Your Love and makes it something akin to that which Carly Rae Jepsen might sing. It enlivens the song but also goes to demonstrate what an undeniable impact Debbie Gibson has had on popstars over the years. Play right after Cut To The Feeling and lose yourself in a heady rush of pop majesty.

Belgium-based production duo Ruff and Jam’s remix of the floating, uplifting “Lark” keeps with the soft feel of the original, adding breadth to generate a sensual, electro nu-wave track with touching build-up, climactic release, and a beautiful sense of space.

My hunch is the online-page-turning-reader thing that Mushroom Magazine is using won’t embed in our blog, so here’s a link to all the flattery that PreSonus artist and producer wunderkind Luke Mourinet has to say.
Grammy-nommed Luke presented at MusikMesse a number of times for us this year, and his presentations were among the most well-received.
